For the month of May, Julep deviated a bit from their usual hand and nail offerings to introduce their lip color line. May’s theme was Set the Stage, likely inspired by the release of The Great Gatsby movie (and the subsequent revival in art deco and 1920s fashion). I chose the Modern Beauty box, which included the New York Jazz lip trio, a sugar scrub and a mascara. The other box options had one of two lip color trios and two nail polishes, with the exception of one which had all nail polish. Let’s see what I got!
I have to admit I’m feeling a bit of blogging ennui lately. If you haven’t noticed, the frequency of my posts have slowed down quite a bit. I just seem to have lost a ton of my motivation lately. Hopefully I’ll come out of this rut soon enough! That being said, there is my ipsy May bag!
I don’t like the pattern of this month’s bag as much as last month. It’s a tribal print that reminds me quite a bit of Pucci prints. I think a lot of people will enjoy the print, but it’s not personally my style. I think I’d bring this bag with me on a beach trip, though. It’s very bright and fun.
This is a super late review. I bought this in early March, along with my first OCC Lip Tar. Well, actually my boyfriend bought it for me. But either way, I’ve been sitting on this for a looong time now. This is the Sephora Disney Jasmine Collection The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror. Whew. What a mouthful.[caption id="attachment_1494" align="aligncenter" width="450"] Sephora Disney Jasmine The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror[/caption]
Here’s a just-because sale if you’ve been lemming some Sugarpill! Take 20% off your purchase of pressed and loose shadows today, Wednesday May 8th. No code required; the discount is automatically applied on the site. I checked and it doesn’t seem that palettes/sets are included, just singles.
Are you getting anything?
Recently I’ve heard a lot of good things about ipsy, the beauty subscription service started by Michelle Phan. I was also attracted to the price ($10 as opposed to the standard $20, with free shipping, plus you get a makeup bag) so a few months ago, I joined their waitlist. It opened in early March for me, and I received my first bag in mid April. Let’s take a look at my ipsy April Bag!

I’ve got a bit of the blogging blahs. I’m in my final quarter of grad school, so it’s true I’m a bit busier than normal, but even so I’ve been forgoing blogging for lazing about or playing video games. I’ve already roundly broken my New Year’s resolution of 3 posts a week, and I guess that just made me feel like I’ve already failed so why keep going? D: That’s a horrible philosophy. Anyway! I joked that I might not get this box up in time before my Julep May box, and I was right. I got my May Maven box yesterday so I was like, “Oops. Better put up my Julep Maven April box…”
