At the inaugural PHamExpo this year, Sugarpill introduced a limited edition ChromaLust loose shadow in the shade Asteria. They only produced 1000 of these and brought half of the stock to the expo to sell; the other half, they put up for sale online in a limited sale. I snapped one up as soon as they went live.

The normal ChromaLust shadows come with black packaging and black tops, but this one comes in white. I think it’s actually much nicer and more unique looking than the traditional packaging.

Asteria is a beautiful coppery orange, with peachy gold sparks. Depending on how it’s applied, the different tones are accentuated. I found that when it was applied dry, it looked more coppery. Over primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion), it looked more peachy. When foiled (using Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy), it had more of a golden sheen to it. It’s an incredibly beautiful and complex shade.

With my purchase, I received the usual Sugarpill sticker, a promo card, an Elektrocute tattoo (for their new neon pigment line, Elektrocute) and a sample of Magentric ChromaLust shadow.

Extra goodies!

Magentric is described as a “metallic deep magenta with a dazzling turquoise sheen.” This reminds me a bit of Urban Decay Last Call, which is one of my favorite magenta shades; however, Magentric is much brighter whereas Last Call is deeper and more wine punch-like. I fudged up the ordering on these, so Magentric is foiled with Pixie Epoxy on the top, applied dry in the middle, and swatched over Urban Decay Primer Potion on the bottom.

Both applied smoothly, and with little fallout. The texture is extremely finely milled. It looked bold and vibrant even without a primer.

I slapped on Asteria for what was supposed to be a quick errand out, and when I returned home six hours later (how does that happen…), it still looked bright and fresh.

As always, Sugarpill are cruelty-free. Asteria and Magentric are also both vegan.

Price: $12 each
Where to buy: Sugarpill; Asteria was a limited production shade and can no longer be bought in normal retail.
Would I repurchase?: Yes! Sugarpill are one of my favorite companies, and Asteria is the first ChromaLust I’ve purchased from them. They continue to amaze me with their affordable but amazing quality products.
