I know … I’ve been really bad about putting my ipsy bags up! My June ipsy bag came last week, though, so I’m trying! This month’s bag is themed “Pretty in Paradise.” The bag is apparently designed by Rebecca Minkoff, according to the tag! Let’s see what I got~

By the way, before I go into the contents of my bag, I want to put out a PSA for those of you who already subscribe to ipsy. Some ipsters who received the Lash Out mascara from Be a Bombshell have reported adverse effects from using it, including swollen, puffy, itchy and scaly eyes. The affected mascaras were only produced for ipsy bags, and will have a very strong chemical odor (such as burning rubber, according to some reports).
Be a Bombshell released a statement about it on their Facebook. I would urge any of you who did receive it not to use it and to contact ipsy for a replacement.

Luckily, I did not receive this mascara in my bag because I definitely would have swiped it once I got the bag! Here is what I did receive, however.

1. NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair (FS; RRP $5.00)
I’m really happy to have received this, because I keep meaning to try the NYX Butter Glosses. It has a really strong sweet scent of sugar cookies. This shade, Eclair, is a pinky-nude that probably every girl has 5 of already. It’s a medium-thick gloss that’s slightly tacky, but not sticky.
2. Nicka K Shimmer Eyeliner in Blue (FS; RRP $4.99)
I actually really like teal eyeliners, especially during the summertime. I think they’re great for lining the bottom lash line, to give a really bright summery look that’s not over-the-top. This one comes with a flexible thin foam tip. It’s pretty pigmented, though I haven’t tried it enough to say about wear time.
3. Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray (DS; apprx. value $3.18)
I haven’t tried this yet. To get beachy waves, I usually just dampen my hair and tie it into a bun. I’ve never used any sprays or products to get the look before, so I’m interested in trying it out soon. This spray smells like a pina colada! Delicious!
4. Skinn by Dimitri James Olive & Enzyme Cleanser (DS; apprx. value $12)
This cleanser claims it can be used both as a cleanser (massage on, then rinse off or wipe off with a warm, wet washcloth) and as a moisturizing mask. I tried it out after I swatched the other items in my bag, and it… didn’t really seem to work very well. It left most of the Nicka K eyeliner behind, and I had to kinda scrub to get the BB creams off. It smells nice, though, like mangos and pineapples.
5. Laneige BB Cushion samples in Light, Medium and Dark
These are true samples, so I wasn’t sure how to calculate a value for them. I was really excited to get this, though, as Laneige is a Korean brand I’m already a fan of and they recently entered the US market by way of Target stores exclusively. The BB cushion is one of their new products, as cushions are all the rage in Korea right now, and one that I was really interested in trying. That being said, I don’t think I’ll be getting a full-size of this anytime soon. I thought that the puff + cushion application gave a really nice lightweight and natural look, but none of the shades really match me. Medium is the closest match to my face, but it’s actually too dark for me! The jump between shades is rather severe, also, so I think many girls will have a hard time finding a match. It feels really nice on, though — cooling and refreshing, and I thought the coverage was very good. Sad. ::x:

Below are swatches of the eyeliner, gloss and BB cushion.

June ipsy Bag

Overall, I was really pleased with this month’s bag. The only dud was the cleanser because it didn’t, well, cleanse, but I will use it as a moisturizing mask instead. Also, all the products fit the theme very well to me. I could see myself bringing all of these along on my next beach trip.

What do you think of my June ipsy bag? What did you receive in yours?

    • If you can find a shade match, I think they’re really nice! Really great for summer, too, since they felt so cooling. I forgot to mention this in the post, but they’re fragranced pretty strongly. I liked it (reminded me of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue or Anna Sui Secret Wish) but it’s something to consider if you’re sensitive to scents!

  1. im sorry but my attention was mostly on the pink + black + heart fabric underneath the products, is it a bedding? where did you get it? 🙂
btw such a shame about the mascara incident ive always wanted to try ipsy butits not available in my country. i esp like the eyeliner + gloss in your box 🙂

    • The hearts are actually a chocolate brown, but they look darker in the photo! It’s just a regular cotton fabric I bought from Joann’s Fabric. I made myself a little pouch to hold my 3DSXL and I used that for the lining. I thought it would be cute to use as a background though :3

    • Me too! I really like doing aqua and gold for beachy looks. I hope this liner holds up well in the summer heat! Although I know the seasons are different down under… isn’t it coming up on wintertime for you?
